hello everyone

my friend has just been diagnosed with AML. He is about to start his treatment.. Can someone share their experience with this type of cancer.. I don't have a clue what to expect.. How to talk with him about that.. I would really appreciate some advice.

Hi anika78,
I am sorry to hear that your friend is not well. I cannot give you any info as to exactly what treatment he is going to have. It will be probably chemotherapy. The good news is that the chance of being cured from AML is quite high. You can find more info here: http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk/Cancertype/Leukaemiaacutemyeloid
In terms of talking to him, just treat him as his friend. Offer him help rather than wait for him to ask for it. Be there for him when he will need you. I don't know how close you 2 are so it is diffficult for me to be more precise. If you find it difficult emotionally and would prefer to talk to somebody face to face, please talk to the nurses in hospital. They will be able to offer you some help.
Together we are stronger!
